One more week!

Just a little more than one week until cold February will be gone, and we will be heading into windy March. I am thankful February is the shortest month since it is so cold. It really does seem as though the month has just started and now it is almost over. I use to hear people say that as you get older time just seems to fly by, and I have certainly found that to be true. We go sailing past one month right after another until another year has passed us by without us even realizing where the time has gone.

When we are young, and we hear people talk of the “old wife’s tales”, we think they are just old and don’t know what they are talking about; but time eventually proves them right, and we finally have to admit to the wisdom of our elders. We would be wise to take their advice to start with, and avoid a lot of needless heartache and trouble, but we are so “smart” in our youth. It usually takes a few humility lessons for us to catch on, but eventually wisdom is born out of it.

Cheers to the enthusiasm of the young, and the wisdom of our fathers!

Roses Are Red

With Valentine’s Day coming up on the 14th, our thoughts turn to love. Remember when you were growing up and on Valentine’s Day you might have received a little poem something similar to this:

Roses are red

Violets are blue

You love me

And I love you

Simple, but sincere. On Valentine’s Day, let us remember the sincerest kind of love.

The Creator of mankind said, “Faith, hope, and charity (love). But the greatest of these is charity (Love).” If you have love, you have the greatest gift in the world. It is more precious than silver or gold. To love and be loved is the greatest gift of all.

I’m sure you have someone you love. Probably a lot of people that you love. Maybe a lover, a friend, a mom or dad, a sister or brother, a child or grandchild.  The possibilities to love and be loved are endless. But even if you only have one person to love, that is enough. Because love is stronger than any force on earth. “Faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love.”

Happy Valentine’s Day! dear friends.

Six more weeks!

Well, it appears that groundhog did indeed see his shadow, and hence we are in for six more weeks of winter weather. Whether you believe in his predictions or not, we usually have six more weeks of bad weather in this part of the country any way. So, I guess we might as well get ready for it.

Of course there are those who are all too happy to see it. The kids and teachers that get out for bad weather are more than happy to get out of school. And there are those who just like to see the snow fall. Admittedly, it is beautiful, but such a hazard to drive in. If you don’t have to get out, enjoy!
