March Leaves Like a Lamb

March came in like a lion, and it appears to be leaving like a lamb. The sun is up and shining today, and it appears to be a beautiful day. Yesterday was blustery and cold and it looked like March was going to leave as it came in with fierce winds and cold temperatures. But today is showing real promise of spring.

April Fool’s day is coming up, so don’t let anyone trick you into thinking you are an April Fool. I’ve never really had a bad trick pulled on me, but I have heard of others. My uncle use to tell a tale about how one of his siblings once walked five miles because of an April Fool trick pulled on them. Do you have any good “April Fool” tales? I would love to hear about them!

Happy April Fool’s Day!

Car Show This Saturday

For those of you that enjoy car shows, there will be one this Saturday at Ralph Stout Park in Mountain City, TN. They usually have some great cars to see, so if you enjoy this type of event, come on out and see what is going on.

Now that spring has sprung, there will lots of opportunities to get out and enjoy all of the activities going on in the mountain empire.

Finder’s-Keepers

When we were children and we were walking along the road and looked down and found a dime just lying on the ground, we were allowed to keep it. There is an old rhyme that went, “finder’s-keepers, loser’s-weepers”.So, we would put it in our pocket and go away smiling. But recently I had pause to question this philosophy.

I was walking out of a retail store, and looked down and saw a dollar just lying on the road. My first reaction was, “Oh, goody! There’s a dollar! Finder’s-Keepers, Loser’s-Weepers”! But for some reason it bothered me. And I had another thought. If I had happened upon a huge amount of money, I would have felt compelled to find it’s rightful owner. So why would I not feel the same way about a small amount of money. If it would be the right thing to do to turn it in if it was a lot of money, then why wouldn’t it be the right thing to do if it wasn’t much money. The principal was the same either way.

It really did amount to it being the principal of the thing. So I dutifully turned it in to the service desk. So, if you happened to have lost a dollar in Row 12, you can claim it at any time!

P.S. I suppose you might think it is silly to be so concerned with a dollar bill, but I really feel we need to start thinking about the things that we do, and the decisions that we make every day, and unless we start doing the right things, the right things are not going to happen.

Spring is Here!

Finally spring has arrived, and although the weather is still a little on the chilly side, the sun is trying to warm things up. It has been a long cold winter, and I know a lot of people are glad to see spring arrive; even if it is only on the calendar. Pretty soon, though the weather will catch up with the calendar and we will all be complaining of the heat.

This is race week-end in Bristol, TN. So come on out and enjoy the race and support your favorite driver.

If you happened to catch J4 on the CBS Early Show, remember to vote for them on TriCities.com. They are a cute little singing group from Bluff City, TN. They sing really well, and the “cuteness factor” is way over the top! This contest could change their lives. They are on CBS’s “Singing Family Face Off”.

Happy Spring to you all!

More Snow!

It appears from the news forecast that “Old Man Winter” is not ready to let go yet, as they are predicting more snow in the mountains for tonight and tomorrow.

Spring is just around the corner and I think everyone will be glad to see it this year. Everyone I know has been complaining about the long winter this year.

I’ve really enjoyed looking at all of the wonderful spring pictures on www.Today’sPhoto.org  this year. It has really warmed up my winter. For just a few minutes I can visualize spring and remember it’s beauty. And even the snow scenes are magnificent! But if you haven’t seen Winston Rockwell’s latest addition, I encourage you to take a look. His March 9Th “Ghosts in the mist” is something different from what we have seen of “Rocky” so far, and his narrative is outstanding! You have got to check it out!

Spring Forward!

Even though I will lose an hours sleep tonight, I am so glad to see the time change come this year because that means we are one step closer to spring. And with the temperatures suppose to reach the seventies today, it would appear spring is finally here. Oh, I know there will probably be some more cold temperatures and some more snow, but for these few days, let us just enjoy spring! I can almost see the tulips now!

March Comes In Like A Lion!

The old saying goes, “If March comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb”.  Since we had a real snowy and blustery day on March 1st, we should be in for some spring-like weather real soon. And according to the weather man, it will be up into the seventies by the week-end. Yea! for spring! Let the tulips rise forth from their winter nap and cover the earth with all their colorful splendor!
