Blue Berry Pie, Anyone?
It is that time of year again when the blue berries are ripe for the picking. So I made a trip across the mountain into the valley to visit Miss Ellen and her blue berry patch again.
We have been having a lot of rain and cooler than usual temperatures, but today was bright and sunny. A perfect day to go blue berry picking. There were already several people there when I arrived. I grabbed a couple of gallon buckets and headed to the patch with the others. I claimed a spot for myself and began picking. I could hear the other pickers talking and catching up on the latest news. Within a short time I had my bucket full and decided to call it a day. I left about the same time as another couple, so we rounded up Miss Ellen to settle our debt and be on our way.
I decided to stop in at Karen’s Raceway Grill to grab a good old fashioned hamburger and fries (hey, I had been working hard). It wasn’t too busy as it is a work day. There were a couple of farmers taking a break from their day to get something to eat and cool off a bit.
After satisfying my cravings, I headed on back across the mountain with my windows down enjoying the cool mountain breeze.
Now what do I fix first? Blue berry pie, blue berry jam, blue berry sauce for ice cream, or do I just dive in and have some just the way they are? Excuse me, please…………I have some serious decisions to make.
